Many other beaches are perfectly suitable for beginners and intermediate windsurfers, but the area of Cabarete has them all beat as the perfect destination for the sport. If you are unfamiliar with windsurfing, the sport uses a windsurf board (sailboard) which has a sail erected in the middle. The user rides the windsurf board while guiding the board with the sail, catching the wind similar to a sail. Indeed, it is a challenging combination of both sailing and surfing that makes this an entertaining sport. It is important to learn how to windsurf correctly if you are interested in trying it out.
