Motorcycle Rentals and Motocross Expeditions

Throughout the Dominican Republic the most often seen form of transportation is the “moto,” a motorcycle, or “passola,” a motor scooter. Whether you are in the countryside or in the most high-brow area of the metropolitan cities, these two-wheeled vehicles transport more of the population than anything on the island.

It is possible to rent your very own motorcycle or scooter while you are here on vacation. Most of the rental companies offer the rentals on half-day or full-day basis. You can rent for the entire week as well for a typically discounted fee. Technically the minimum age for a rental is 21 and you will need to present your driver’s license and a major credit card.

Motocross or Enduro

Not for the faint of heart but for those who enjoy extreme sports you can also enjoy motocross and enduro racing here in the Dominican Republic. In the hills surrounding Cabarete are some of the most amazing dirt trails and there is even a motocross track about 5 km away from town. In the hills are literally thousands of miles of trails (most often used by donkeys) where you can forge streams, climb mountains, soar through valleys and enjoy the Dominican Republic as never before.
